Lipoid Proteinosis


Lipoid proteinosis
is a very rare genodermatosis characterized by hoarseness, skin infiltration and thickening, beaded papules on eyelid margins, and facial acneiform or pock-like scars.

Histological examinations show an extracellular PAS-positive hyaline material.

The disorder is attributed to a mutation of the extracellular-matrix protein-1 located on chromosome 1q21.
