Community Medicine - Points to be noted

These are random quick revision points in Community Medicine (SPM)

1. For disinfection of large water bodies - Method of choice of chlorination is CHLORINE GAS. 

2. Chlorine gas is produced by PATERSON's CHLORONOME.

3. Greatest drawback of Chloramine is - SLOW ONSET of action.   

4. Perchloron / HTH has 60-70%  'Available Chlorine'. Whereas Commercial Bleaching Powder has only 33% 

Available Chlorine.

Puppe's Rule

 

In cases of Multiple Gun shot injuries sequence of shots may be deduced from Puppe's Rule. 

Puppe's rule states that an extending fracture line will cease if it meets a preexisting fracture or suture line.

pain from hip disease may mimic pain of lumbar spine disease.Hip pain can be reproduced by internal and external rotation at the hip with the knee and hip in flexion(patrick sign) and by tapping the heel with the examiner's palm while the leg is extended.
